Shoe Suggestions?

I'm going to start this post off with a disclaimer: I hate feet.  Really, anything to do with feet and I cringe.  I don't like to touch them or see them.  I don't mind my feet really, but as a general rule, feet gross me out.  I like to imagine a future world where our feet have been replaced by a wheel like the Jetson's robot maid.  :)  So I apologize that this post is all about feet.  With that being said, I am in need of some sage advice from you guys.  What kind of shoes do you wear to work?  Lately, my feet have just been killing me.  I don't get much time throughout the day to sit down so I am constantly on my feet and I feel like I've developed heel spurs because of it.  Thank goodness for the loving hubby who rubs them (almost without complaint) when I get home! <3

I'm in the market for a new, super comfortable pair of shoes that might reduce my foot pain.  I've seen a lot of shoes for medical staff that are white, which doesn't really work for me.  I want something flattish that looks dressy enough to wear with work pants.  After scouring four shoe stores, I haven't found anything, so for now, I've resorted to some Dr. Scholl's inserts, which help, but not much.  I'm sick of having to come home and soak them in a salt bath just to be able to walk in socks (it's that painful right when I take my shoes off!).  I was just curious as to what you wear and if you recommend any good brands or specific shoes that you find comfortable for all-day standing.  Thanks so much for any help! :)

Fall Bingo Freebie

Hello, all!  In honor of my fall break having started a few hours ago, I created this fun Fall Bingo freebie!  I'm gonna use it with my kids during our Halloween party just to give us something fun to do that doesn't involve tons of sugary treats.  Here are some pics:

My backgrounds are from my sister's paper pack I mentioned in the previous post.  If you'd like this freebie, you can get it by visiting my TPT store or by clicking HERE.  I probably won't be back until the end of break, so I hope you all have a nice weekend.  I've got lots of fun (non-teaching-related) stuff planned! :)

Fall Fun

Today was absolutely beautiful here!  It was a little overcast with a chilly breeze that made me want to bundle up in a hoodie. I <3 fall!  With or without the weather's cooperation, I've been in a fallish mood because my class has been working on their scarecrow and pumpkin art projects.  We finally finished them and I was able to get the board up.  I think they turned out super cute (minus the creepy ones with red eyes)!

Here's my model I made as the kids made their own:

And here's our finished Pumpkin Patch board!  The pumpkins are part of LessonPlanDiva's How-to Writing Pack.

I figured while I was on a roll, I would link up (a few days late) with Oh' Boy 4th Grade's October Currently.  Here it is!  I'm excited because it's also my first one. :)

And I clearly need more practice with these because you can hardly read it.  Well, if you care it says the following:
Listening: to the ID channel about a serial killer in Indiana.  I love these types of shows every though they make me scared to be at home alone!
Loving: my cute little kitties who are enjoying a pile of warm laundry right now.  I wish my life was that simple!
Thinking: about how hard-working my hubby is.  He's across the room working on his cartography homework, yuck!
Wanting: fall break to start NOW instead of on Thursday.
Needing: a really good back massage.
Book: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  I read it every year around Halloween.

The hubby and I tried to make caramel apples the other evening which I did with my mom when I was younger.  I didn't look up any recipes because I figured it couldn't be too hard.  I followed the instructions on the back of caramels, but we must have messed it up because it ended up waaay too hard to eat.  We cheated and bought some from the store instead.  They definitely got me even more into the fall spirit!

And for some more fall deliciousness, my sister over at Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah Designs has created this super cute fall-inspired gingham (is that the right word?) digital paper pack for you to use and make all sorts of super cute projects!  Check it out HERE.

Well, that's it for now, ladies and gentlemen.  Have a fabulous fall day!

Shoot for the Moon! Unit

It's FINALLY done!  It only took me the better part of a month.  It's amazing how much "free" time you don't have when you work two jobs and take ESL endorsement classes once a week.  :)  Our fall break is this week and you have no idea how excited I am to have a 5-day weekend!  Wooohooo!
Here are some pics of my new science unit about the moon.

Believe it or not, there are actually lots more pages than the ones I could fit in the picture above!

I've been using this unit as I was creating it.  My kiddos have already done most of what's in this pack, but I am still really proud of it.  You get tons of stuff and I tried really hard to make everything look fun and engaging.  Check this pack out in my TPT store by clicking HERE.

Hope you have a nice Sunday!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Brace yourselves...I have no homework to grade this weekend.  Can you believe it?  My wonderful hubby came into school with me on Friday and graded all day for me.  I <3 him so much! It was funny because the kids were getting a little loud so I asked them to be quiet and I got no response.  In fact, it might have gotten louder.  Then, I tell my husband to ask them to quiet down and without a microphone or raising his voice, he says, "It's getting a little noisy in here," and they INSTANTLY went quiet.  I get that they love him and everything, but seriously....come on! LOL.  And of course then he comes home and doesn't think my job seems so hard anymore.  Go figure. :)

I'm trying to be productive since I don't have any homework.  I cleaned up the house and tonight we're going to a film festival my brother-in-law has entered.  I also finished a game I wanted to make for school and I'm really pleased with it.  I absolutely loooooove anything rainbow-ish (does my blog design give that away?) so I used my sister's new Rainbow Digital Paper Pack to create this game.

How pretty are these papers you guys?  You might be able to win something from her shop in the near future (wink, wink) so keep checking back!

My newest game is called Rainbow Sort and it is a simple, bright, and fun way for kids to practice identifying words with the V/CV and VC/V patterns.  I'll be using it in my room this week.  If you follow the Reading Street program, this aligns perfectly with Unit 2, Week 2.  You can also use it without the Reading Street program, of course!

Check out my Rainbow Sort game by clicking HERE or visiting my TPT store.  I hope you all are getting in some rest and relaxation before the school week starts again.  I can't believe how fast this weekend went!  If only my weekdays went by as quickly....

Hello, Fall!

Fall is my favorite season and I am so glad it has finally arrived!  I got myself a new orange fleece coat today for only $15 (thanks, Old Navy!) and that totally put me into a halloween-y mood.

Since my sister loves Halloween as much as I do, I thought this would be a perfect segue to introduce her to you all.  She's a graphic artist who voluntarily comes in to teach art to school kids.  My kids love her but sadly she's too far away to volunteer for me anymore. :(  Anyways, I convinced her to join TPT and share her wonderful graphics with the world.  Check out this cute alphabet set she made!  Isn't it adorable?

Check out her growing shop at Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Designs!  I'm very proud of my little sister, as you can tell. :)
